This solution is ideal when you have a collection of travel or family photos to display, but don’t want your home to look like the inside of an album from the 90s. For a chic and cohesive look, print all your photos in black and white and display them in a grid with a matching frame.

If you have a big budget but little or no time, this decorating method is ideal—you don’t have to spend a lot of time collecting things, buying frames, or coordinating them. Choose your favorite pattern, call the on-duty wizard to install it, and put your feet up while you enjoy the view!

If you don’t have the time or serious cash flow (that’s me), I recommend accepting the bare minimum and embracing the blank wall. Negative space is actually a central feature of the design, with restrained furniture and minimal colors and patterns that feel simple and purposeful.

Some people say gallery wall is “out there”, but these people are very, very wrong. In my humble opinion, the key to making a gallery show feel timeless is to truly embrace the scale of the wall: take art from floor to ceiling and not just fill a small space, but don’t be afraid to mix media.

Use it to find an empty wall or to show your special interest. Hang up your gear, display a collection of mirrors you’ve acquired over the years, or finally display a vintage map you’ve collected over the years. If there is something in life that you love, go ahead and fly your flag.

Ah, the magical moment when form meets function. A long row of wall shelves provides plenty of space to display interesting works of art, vintage wire and sculptures, while also providing extra space for boxes and containers.

Filling a large wall is one of the biggest questions I face when moving into a new home. In fact, filling up too much of an empty wall is a problem I think a lot of people face when moving toward an open floor plan.

A large blank wall in any room can feel cold and empty. However, this does not mean that every wall in the house is covered with something. Putting something on every wall in your home can make you feel classic and uncluttered.

You can always create a warm and cozy atmosphere with just one blank wall. What’s the best way to cover a large, blank wall? You can leave the other walls untouched because it fills the room by itself!

Ideas Of What To Do With That Big Empty Wall In Your Bedroom

If you’ve taken our empty house tour, you’ve probably noticed a large room with an opening door. Part dining room, part family room, part kitchen, you guessed it:

The previous owners had some bookstores in there, but it still felt a little empty, so we had to come up with other affordable ideas to fill the empty walls.

We decided to start covering a large blank wall with a black and white ocean canvas print that we previously had in our master bedroom. Now that we have a lower ceiling, it feels a little cramped from our headboard. As a result, there was no place to play this song that I love so much. The only problem: it felt like a tiny speck on a huge blank wall.

Obviously, in my role, we take a lot of pictures. I knew I wanted to do some kind of family photo gallery wall in our house, but I wanted to make it a focal point. We decided on a few things for our gallery:

We did this to create a sense of cohesion. This room has stained bay windows and mosaic tiles on the kitchen walls. We wanted this wall to feel full but calming. Since color photos have different lighting and filters, we wanted things to match to reduce confusion.

Like I said, we wanted to fill a big blank wall, but we wanted it to be peaceful. I knew for sure that I didn’t want to post 4×6 and 5×7 photos everywhere. Aside from the fact that these frames are more expensive, the idea immediately seems clumsy and confusing. Instead, I decided to measure the height of the middle of the ocean and save things for that. Using Canva, I sketched out what it would look like:

We decided to use custom prints from Photowall. We cut them down a few inches from the main picture (ours is 28×28 inches) and decided to use these hanging frames to take the center of the wood out of the frame, table and console. That way, the pearls really stood out, but everything felt cohesive with the black, white, and wood.

Chandeliers are one of my favorite inexpensive ways to brighten up an empty wall or an awkward space on a large wall. As an added bonus, they’re easy to change with the seasons to keep them feeling festive and fresh.

Wallpaper has changed a lot in recent years! You will find the most amazing prints, colors, textures and creations! Even better, there’s a removable wallpaper like the one in our previous moon-themed nursery.

Photowall also has great murals! And they have the option to create their own wallpapers! How funny is that?!

Like I said, when the previous owners moved in, they put the bookcase on a big blank wall. Whether you choose a traditional bookcase, a floating shelf or a hybrid, there’s no doubt that these shelves will fill an empty wall. In addition, shelves increase storage space and provide more personal items or decorative items, improving your overall space.

Not for wallpaper? Consider painting your own mural on the big wall! The bottom line is that we have a house planned and I’m so excited about it! This is an inspiration! I recently came across a really cute mural that another mom did on her kids’ wall of rainbows on Instagram. It’s very similar to the trending wallpapers you’ve probably seen all over Instagram.

A really fun way to fill a large empty wall is with an oversized mirror (or wall of mirrors!). This is great if your space is dark, as mirrors can bounce light and make the room feel larger. This is a gorgeous mirror I’ve personally seen, and we have it elsewhere in our home!

Mother Nature is truly one of our favorite places to get inspiration for our home, and the price can’t be beat! Seriously, I’ll have a post in the next few months about the master bedroom reveal and how I turned the branch I found into the center of the large blank wall in our bedroom! So hit the subscribe button or follow me on Instagram and don’t miss out!

If you’re not ready to tackle a wall mural, consider getting a rug and creating your own art! Trust me, you don’t have to be an artist to make this work for you! You can line the bed in a monochromatic palette and call it minimal art.

Or you can divide a large image into three parts and print them on three squares to create a triangle. Honestly, there are a lot of ways to repurpose fabric that don’t require your skills.
