Understanding The Importance Of Urine Color
Balloons are simple, large and easy to wash. Foam, on the other hand, does not wash off. It becomes stronger and clearer.

The good news is that you don’t have to get your hands dirty looking at a cup. You can judge the color by looking at the toilet bowl after the shower. (Don’t worry if the paint is a little thin with toilet water. It’s still a very useful measurement.)
You may have noticed that the colors change daily, often hourly. So what’s healthy and what should you watch out for? To stop you from getting confused, we’ve put together this handy color chart.
It’s important to drink enough water every day, but it’s okay to drink too much. If your urine is completely clear and not yellow, you are probably drinking more water than recommended.
Why You Shouldn’t Push When You Pee
Also, if searching becomes your full-time job, that’s another sign you’re hydrating too hard. For the average adult, it is considered normal to urinate 4-10 times in a 24-hour period.
The reason you should avoid excess water is that excess water dilutes the body’s electrolytes. Although rare, it can cause water poisoning.
But most of us don’t need to worry about extreme levels of dehydration. In general, when you’re dehydrated, limit yourself to small amounts of water until your skin turns yellow again.

If your body loses more water than it takes in, it becomes dependent on available water. When mixed with less water, the natural minerals and chemicals in your urine will be more concentrated and deeper in color.
If your urine is a shade of brown or dark orange, it’s time to pay attention because it’s very dehydrated.
Bright Yellow Urine: Colors, Changes, And Causes
Vomiting, diarrhea, and fever cause the body to lose water quickly and are common causes of dehydration. Fortunately, most healthy adults can easily recover by drinking plenty of water and electrolyte-rich fluids regularly.
Keep in mind that if bottled and tap water contain a lot of electrolytes, you may need something with a higher concentration, such as Gatorade or a homemade tonic, to properly balance your body’s electrolytes.
For children struggling with dehydration from vomiting and diarrhea, the Mayo Clinic recommends treatment with an oral dehydration solution such as Pedialyte.
Brown urine can also be caused by something you recently ate. Some foods that cause brown urine are:
Causes Of Dark Brown Urine
We expect our urine to be yellow to some degree. So when we look at the toilet and see a different color, it can be a bit of a shock.
Before you jump to the conclusion that your toilet bowl looks like a bowl of fruit stones, think about the new foods you’ve eaten or the medications you’ve taken.
Amitriptyline, indomethacin (Indocin), cimetidine (Tagamet), and promethazine (Phenergan); methylene blue and propofol (these are rarely used outside the hospital)
Changes that may not be related to recent foods or medications you’ve taken, confusion, and unusual colored discharge are good reasons to see a doctor.
Pee: What Color Should It Be?
However, experts are quick to point out that if your urine is dark or orange, it could be due to liver disease.
The current daily recommendation is about 9 cups for women and 13 cups for men. But remember, this is just a general guideline.
Factors like age, whether you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, how hot the weather is, and your level of physical activity all affect how good water is for you.
If you wait to drink until you’re thirsty, you might lose track. Keeping a refillable water bottle handy is a good way to ensure you have enough water. You can remind yourself to drink between activities or during other breaks, such as commercial breaks or a new episode of a show. If you’re in a very hot or dry area, or if you’re breastfeeding or doing a lot of physical activity, remember to push a little harder.
