What Can You Do On Kindle Fire Hd – Amazon’s Fire HD 8 tablet is great for Amazon fans who don’t want to spend a lot of money, but as a general-purpose tablet, it falls short.
Amazon’s hardware standards haven’t changed much over the years: spend a little and get… not a lot, at least a little.

Hardware from the Bezos empire (such as the latest Echo Buds 2) has compromised horsepower and features that significantly undercut the price competition, and the latest Fire HD 8 tablet is no exception. For $90 ($104 if you don’t want blocking ads), you get a basic but capable tablet, perfect for those within the Amazon ecosystem. If you like reading books on your Kindle and watching movies on Prime Video, this is the tablet for you.

But if you’re looking for a social networking site with a fast operating system, you might be in trouble here.
Amazon is not looking to reinvent the wheel with its budget devices, and as expected, the Fire HD 8 has the same rectangular shape as its siblings. If you’ve ever held a labret before, you’ll recognize it right away because of its simple design. You could mistake the Fire HD 8 for a standard TV tablet. It is available in black, white, fuchsia, and blue, but that color replaces the back cover and is not what you will see when using the device.
The Fire HD 8’s impressive weight of 12.5 ounces makes it easy to use on the go, as you’d expect from a tablet. The 8-inch display is bright and clear, although the 1280×800 resolution cannot be maintained at times.
For example, YouTube videos won’t play above 720p because the Fire HD 8 doesn’t have enough pixels to display 1080p video. YouTube videos in the standalone app and browser are limited to 720p, and there’s no way to watch them at 60 frames per second (that I could find), which is really annoying. To Amazon’s relief, however, this appears to be a problem on YouTube’s part. Other programs with high-quality content, such as ESPN, did well.

Although I would not blame Amazon too much for the low resolution of the Moto HD 8, it is a budget device, while other expensive devices (such as the $350 Nintendo Switch OLED) are still available at 720p. The 8-inch screen is so small that the difference between 720p and 1080p is almost impossible for most people. Just be aware that you’re not getting a great display, and the YouTube technology on the Fire HD 8 is flawed.
USB-C charging is a new addition, with previous models using Micro-USB. As always, I prefer USB-C charging because it’s faster and more important because I can use about 10,000 USB-C cables at a time. The only known port is the 3.5mm headphone jack. With Bluetooth support, you can listen to audiobooks or download your favorite content. Hey, even stage speeches are loud, clear, and loud if you’re not in the audience.

The only problem with the Fire HD 8’s features is the awkward placement of the camera and ports. The front-facing camera is on one of the tall bezels, which means you have to hold the tablet to make Zoom calls. The rear camera is in one corner on the same side of the tablet as the volume and power buttons, the recording port, and the headphone jack. If you want to use the camera while charging a tablet or wearing wired headphones, the wires come out of the top instead of the bottom, no Bueno. I like that the rear cameras are on the other side, so the power and volume buttons are on the bottom.

This design can be forgiven, because the Fire HD 8 is not designed for photography. Charging an extra $15 to remove ads from a blocker is inexcusable. In short, this is a very bad strategy. Amazon has done the same thing with Kindle devices, which is a silly move for a company that has squeezed enough money out of the crowd. enough!
Those complaints aside, I generally don’t mind the good design of the Fire HD 8. Its target audience was people who just wanted a tablet without breaking the bank, and they got it. Its display will not cause eye strain, and its weight and shape will not cause hand cramps.
The Fire HD 8 runs on Fire OS, the operating system Amazon uses for its Android-based Fire devices. The home screen looks like the Android home screen, with app icons, but scrolling left or right between Amazon-centric menus for Kindle books, Prime Video ads, direct online shopping, and more. If you live, breathe, eat and sleep in the Amazon, you will feel at home.

Android events are not available by default. You need to install this app from the Amazon App Store, not the Play Store, which is not compatible with any app you can find on the Play Store. For example, the Android apps for Gmail and Chrome are currently unavailable. Technically, you can install the Play Store on your device, but it requires technical knowledge and may not be suitable for a student.
The Amazon store has many third-party apps, but I’ve never had one as good as Amazon’s apps. Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram are all slow and confusing to use. Just downloading your Twitter timeline is like drowning your tablet in molasses. Sometimes there is a noticeable delay when I switch from one of my friends’ Instagram stories to another. Similarly, YouTube videos are limited to 720p and 30 frames per second, showing the limits that any smartphone can handle.
That being said, the Fire HD 8’s battery life is definitely worth the money. Amazon puts it at over 12 hours, and I approached this with a lot of stress on the device.
With all the money, I watched every NFL game, watched about an hour of YouTube, listened to two hours of podcasts on Spotify, streamed from Prime Video, and scrolled through social media before logging in again. Overall, I’ve gotten 10 hours of use from a full charge in 24 hours, and maybe more if I don’t watch all the football games.

I didn’t expect the Fire HD 8 to be this powerful, so I’m not surprised that it struggles with non-Amazon apps. This is very forgivable when you consider the competition.

Of course, it’s impossible with the latest iPad at this price. The $109 Fire HD 8 Plus is an upgraded model with 3GB of RAM and wireless charging, but with the same software and limitations as the Fire HD 8.
Needless to say, I had issues with the Fire HD 8. It’s a weak tablet aimed at people who rely heavily on Amazon for books, entertainment, and shopping. Also, it works well for these tasks, but somehow it breaks down. Popular apps like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube don’t work well and don’t offer everything you’d want on a cheap, underpowered tablet.

But as a search engine and Kindle engine, you won’t find a better price than that. I’m glad you can buy a tablet that will reliably stream the show’s second season for under $100
