President Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only person who did not see the golden hoard until 1974. In 1974, a group of journalists and a congressional delegation visited the gold vaults.

It wasn’t until 2017 that Fort Knox’s gold vaults were reopened to a limited number of visitors. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin and several members of Congress visited the gold vaults this year.
