Because the center of the bar is open, you can shift your weight to the center of your foot and heel more than you would with normal running. This movement, along with the lifter’s grips, usually allows the lifter to start with a more consistent swing.

This combination can take a lot of stress out of the lower back, so many people like to use six bars instead of or even in addition to regular deadlifts.

The starting position of the ‘lifter’ is easy for beginners. You don’t have to worry about lifting them too quickly, which can sometimes cause a technical error in new lifts (trying to pull the bar out in front of the knees).

Not only is the starting point easier for beginners, but lifters with limited mobility (through the back, lower back, and/or Achilles) have an easier time getting to the starting point of the trap line.
