Can You Play Games On The Kindle Paperwhite – Some aspects of the new Kindle Paperwhite still feel dated, but overall the beautiful e-reader is a pleasure to use.

It’s not that I don’t like books, understanding or anything like that. Conversely, my brand of ADHD makes it hard to find the motivation to start and write, plus I don’t like holding a book in my hand. Depending on their size, they can be a little difficult to handle, both on paper and on a hard drive, especially if you like to read with one hand like I do.

Great for those who love reading and more than just little things about reading. The ad-supported $140 model (which I used for this review) and the ad-free, $190 Signature Edition both have large 6.8-inch displays that last in any light, weeks of battery life, and a flawless form factor. . Lazy one-handed readers like me.

Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite Drops To $110, Plus The Rest Of The Week’s Best Tech Deals

In its first Paperwhite update since 2018, Amazon hasn’t strayed too far from its previous efforts. The cheaper Paperwhite and Signature Edition have the same features:

Amazon managed to increase the screen size by a full inch without making major sacrifices. At 205 grams (208 grams on the Signature Edition), it’s slightly heavier than the 182 gram model from three years ago, possibly due to the thinner bezels around the screen.

As I said before, one of the reasons I don’t read often is that I’m lazy and like to walk around with one arm empty. Some real books do not fit this lifestyle because of their shape and weight. It burns paper

It’s hard not to feel cheap and slick without getting in the way of the readers with a hand underneath us.

Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition Review: Polished To Perfection

It’s an all-touch Kindle with no buttons to turn pages. A simple tap or swipe gets the job done. Touching the top of the screen while reading opens a quick toolbar with the ability to return to the home screen, change font sizes and styles, and animate a simple sidebar. Swiping down from the top brings up another menu for listening to audiobooks, adjusting screen brightness and temperature, and turning dark mode on or off.

Highlighting paragraphs, searching for word definitions, and bookmarking pages are all here. All these great features make reading a book second to none, and the gorgeous Paperwhite display makes it a pleasure.

The text is clear even when you hold the device in front of your face. The anti-glare screen is very bright and pleasing to the eyes in all light conditions. I read Frank Herbert’s epic Dune (what can I say, I have sandworms), a new Paperwhite, in the blazing sun and indoors with the light on at night. In both scenarios, the light was as comfortable as reading a glowing page. Even at high brightness, the screen did not hurt my eyes. You can take your new Paperwhite with you

I can’t forget to mention the small but important addition of a USB-C charging port. Moving on to the world of USB-C, it’s a godsend, maybe an earlier model because it’s not a 2018 model. It’s at the bottom of the device, next to the power button, which is the only button you’ll find here.

At this point, I have to say that I like the physical design of the new Kindle Paperwhite. This is the best e-reader for me if you have a book ready to be on the screen. Unfortunately, that point can be a bit challenging.

Amazon does not intend to build an iPad-level powerful tablet with its Kindle Paperwhite line. You use these devices to read or listen to books, and that’s it. Amazon promised better overall performance and responsiveness with the latest Paperwhite, and while my experience was mostly good, I encountered a few technical glitches.

Seeing the Kindle’s live menu is sometimes more difficult than it needs to be because the screen is designed to display static text. Scrolling up and down through a list of books or settings isn’t as smooth as you’d expect from other touchscreen devices in 2021, but slow. It’s responsive enough that no matter what you’re trying to do, whether it’s searching for a new book or changing the screen’s brightness, it won’t bother you too much. But you won’t enjoy it.

How To Use A Kindle Paperwhite (with Pictures)

Do something and read a book. The excellent form factor and excellent display overcome these minor performance hurdles for me, as I’m not expecting an iPad or even a Fire HD tablet here. However, with those low expectations, it is a bit behind the times.

It doesn’t help that at one point the Paperwhite froze and became completely unresponsive in the middle of reading.

, I waited a few minutes, but it didn’t happen. Hold the power button for 40 seconds to reset the device and I was able to go back to reading after that, but I still felt it needed attention.

Additionally, performance on the Kindle Paperwhite was consistent, at least during my time with it. I respect continuity because at least I know what to expect.

Kindle Paperwhite Vs. Nook Glowlight 4: Which E Reader Is Better?

A final aspect to consider is battery life. Amazon is reducing the price of the new Kindle Paperwhite by up to 10 million dollars

Fully charged battery. I’ve had the device for less than a week, so I haven’t been able to fully test it. With that in mind, the battery drained 10 percent more during that time. If you study for a few hours a day, you won’t get out of it for 10 weeks, but it will last longer no matter how you shake it.

I can learn to live with the slow performance of the Kindle Paperwhite and even the odd lockup that happens from time to time. In fact, everything about using the device is wonderful, and makes me, a person with serious problems, want to sit down and read a dense sci-fi story about religion and feudalism. One thing that keeps me from recommending this to people is the price.

At $140, I think the standard 2021 Kindle Paperwhite might be a little overpriced, but avid readers will get their money’s worth. It costs an extra $50 for signature printing, no ads, extra storage space, and the ability for the Kindle to automatically adjust brightness based on the light level in the room. Adding savings and bonus features to inflated prices is standard fare in the tech industry, but the promotional stuff is disgusting. Is Amazon not making enough money?

The good news is that these aren’t your only Kindle options. The entry-level Kindle costs $99.99 and will probably do the job if you want a capable e-reader. However, if you can afford to pay extra for the Paperwhite, you won’t regret it. The large battery of this small book tablet, excellent and versatile display, and maximum hand comfort have allowed me to read more days than I have in the last few years.
